A Self-Powered Dual-Stage Boost Converter Circuit for Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting Systems

Miniaturised piezoelectric devices are emerging energy harvesting sources that appropriate for various implantable and wearable applications. However, these exhibit considerable internal resistance due to their impedance, which leads self-start low-energy conversion failures. This paper describes a dual-stage boost converter circuit by facilitating self-powering features boosting the low voltage harvested into dc. The proposed comprises stages of ac-dc dc-dc in Stages I II, respectively. In addition, does not require employing auxiliary circuits generate train pulses triggering bidirectional switches envelop current being stored Stage II kick-start self-powered systems. Theoretical assumptions control strategies were tested verified with ideal impedance input sources. could convert 3 Vac 19 Vdc. maximum attained output power was 3.61 mW. outcome depicted boosted outperformed existing literature terms power.
